In Their Words

Maximilian Günther, Driver, Maserati MSG Racing

“Diriyah is a fast, technical track and it’s one of the most complex and challenging venues we’ll race at in Season 10. Unlike Mexico City, it’s a proper street circuit. The barriers are close, and it has a lot of blind corners, which means it rewards driver skill and confidence in equal measure. The race is also the only night race of the year, and the first double-header of the season. This means we’ll need to contend with a lot of circuit conditions, not only with temperature changes from day to night but also with natural evolution from Thursday to Saturday. We enjoyed a successful first race in Mexico, but the focus is entirely on a strong execution once again. I love racing in the night and we‘re definitely feeling good heading into the weekend.“

Jehan Daruvala, Driver, Maserati MSG Racing

“I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel after making my Formula E debut in Mexico City. Heading into my first race, I felt a lot of anticipation and excitement but now that it’s out of the way, my main target is to continue building upon my existing knowledge and confidence. Like most circuits in Season 10, Diriyah is a new track for me to learn. It’s technical and challenging, but on the simulator, I’ve found that it’s very satisfying to drive. The race will be my first double-header experience in Formula E, but because the format is quite similar to Formula 2, this doesn’t phase me. What is does mean is that I’ll have double the track time than I did in Mexico City, and I want to maximise this opportunity as much as I can, and hopefully, score my first top 10 finish of the season.”

Cyril Blais, Chief Engineer, Maserati MSG Racing

“Mexico City was a very competitive start for us. Comparing the result to the same race 12 months ago, we can see just how far we’ve come as a team – our performance and processes are stronger, but our resilience and determination has also never been higher. Unfortunately, we’re only as good as our last race and Diriyah presents a very different set of challenges to what we faced in Mexico. It’s a circuit that we know well and have tasted success at in the past, but because this weekend’s race is a double-header, we have two opportunities to score points. I think we need to remain attentive, grounded, and focus on the task ahead of us. If we do that and maximise our track time well, there’s no reason as to why we can’t be in for another good result on Friday and Saturday.”

Giovanni Sgro, Head of Maserati Corse

“The motivation of the team is high after a good start to Season 10 in Mexico City. Looking ahead to Diriyah, we expect another solid weekend, and we are excited to continue to showcase our racing DNA on circuits around the world. Formula E is the best opportunity to demonstrate our competitive spirit and link our electrifying future with the Folgore range, highlighted by the important technology transfer from the track to the road."
