Revealed on the streets of Maserati’s home in Modena, Italy, Maserati Tipo Folgore is the very first electric racing car in the marque’s distinguished heritage, and by transferring on-track innovation to road-relevant technologies, it will play a significant role in the brand’s electrification journey.
The Maserati Tipo Folgore pays homage to Maserati’s first racing car, the Tipo 26, which won the 1926 Targa Florio when Alfieri Maserati delivered an audacious performance on the winding mountains of Sicily.
Now, 96 years on, Maserati Tipo Folgore represents a new era for Maserati MSG Racing and embodies the Italian brand’s commitment to its all-electric high-performance Folgore automotive range.
Featuring a timeless and iconic blue tone, synonymous with Maserati, the Gen3 challenger sports a contemporary and pure aesthetic, designed for the high-octane competition of Formula E.
In Season 9, the World Championship will reach an even wider global audience as it competes at the heart of 12 cities across five continents in a total of 16 races.
The Gen3 – the fastest and most energy-efficient Formula E car in history – will first head to Valencia, Spain, for pre-season testing and will break new ground with its maiden race at Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on January 14, 2023.
With a maximum power output of 350kW, the Gen3 has 75% and 40% more power than its first- and second-generation counterparts, making it the benchmark of electric vehicle performance.
Combined with 600kW regenerative braking capabilities, facilitated by front and rear powertrains, more than 40% of all energy used during races will be sourced from regen.
